    Loved his books. Sad he never understood that, though many people's conceptions of God ( including his own) are serioously childish,, God is not. The mile high letters say, "I love you, and have given you beauty. Now, Go,Love, Serve, Restore,. Yes, evil is present also. But I gave you insight and reason and love to ovetcome it.

    Our ancestors asked how did everything get here, now we have the answer. The all natural big bang creator, natural evolver & ruler of the universe is the integrated laws of nature and forces of physics composing the genuine God. We found out that in order to master nature we must discover, understand, apply and most importantly obey the laws of nature that govern the forces of physics to power and allow our technology to work. Yes God evolved the world then evolved man who fit that world. The more we understand and obey God the better off we will become, thank God for that.

      ungertron The point Mr. Adams was trying to make, flew so far over your head that it hit an airliner.

    • @ungertron
      @ungertron 9 лет назад

      bottlecapbill19 The point Douglas Adams, as an atheist is making is that ancient people asked "Who made the world & universe & what for" they thought god was a invisible man in the sky that people could use as a crutch. The problem is that the man in the sky had nothing to do with creating or ruling the universe, that man is the source of horrible errors. What Adams & early man defines as god is in fact a non-god. The real big bang creator, evolver of humanity the Darwinian way, the authentic law of nature ruler of the universe is the genuine all natural God, the source of all actualized reality & truth. The real God is composed of the fundamental and emergent laws of nature that are integrated with the forces of physics. Just because pre-scientific humans got the nature & identity of God wrong does not mean there is no God. In the bible a bat is a bird, Pi is 3.000 and God is a guy who made man "in his own image". In reality a bat is a night flying mammal, Pi is 3.14159... and God is the integrated laws of nature & forces of physics. In other words Adams and all atheists are wrong, there is a real verifiable genuine God.

    • @bottlecapbill19
      @bottlecapbill19 9 лет назад

      ungertron "The point Douglas Adams, as an atheist is making is that people thought god was a non-existent man in the sky that people could use as a crutch". Wrong. He was describing god as a normal construct of human curiosity. However, we no longer need that construct. Think of it as a jumping off point for further knowledge or better yet I believe Christopher Hitchens said it best that (to paraphrase), "Religion is our first attempt at many things, it's our first attempt at philosophy, at science, at history... but because it is our first it is our worst, and we now have a better out look at all these different schools of learning in the modern world". "The real big bang creator, evolver of humanity the Darwinian way, the authentic law of nature ruler of the universe is the genuine all natural God, the source of all actualized reality & truth. The real God is composed of the fundamental and emergent laws of nature that are integrated with the forces of physics". Two words... Prove it without an appeal to faith or using the bible or whatever Deepak Chopra-esc woo you are trying to spin... I just read that last paragraph and... You got me man... Nice troll... really spot on... such a splendid POE you are... Had me going there until I read that last bit. That's when I realised that I'm the fish that bit the hook... Fuck.

    • @ungertron
      @ungertron 9 лет назад

      bottlecapbill19 You are unaware of the documentation establishing the reality of the laws of nature, like the laws of thermodynamics, the laws of motion, laws of gravity, quantum mechanics and general relativity. You think the forces of physics like the Higgs field that gives mass to the universe, and the interactive forces like the gravitational field, the electromagnetic field, the weak & strong nuclear fields require faith. Ok you are delusional and crazy. Your mind is forever poisoned by your bible. The truth is that over the last 400 years science established beyond reasonable doubt that the integrated laws of nature & forces of physics are the big bang creator, Darwinian style evolver of humanity and the law of nature ruler of the universe. You bring up a supernatural believing crack pot delusional Deepak Chopra. What you don't understand is there is no such thing as anything supernatural. No unambiguous evidence of any supernatural event has ever been documented. Everything has a natural explanation. You have no idea what you're talking about and the overwhelming odds are, that you never will. All you can do is attack the recent findings of the natural sciences and reason that clearly link all of reality to the integrated laws of nature & forces of physics.

    • @BackwardAssassin
      @BackwardAssassin 9 лет назад

      That's quite a creative interpretation of God you have there. The laws of physics are mysterious, no one has any idea why they exist the way they currently do. But that doesn't mean you can turn around and say physics = God. Aside from a literal interpretation of any religion, which is always demonstrably wrong concerning what we know about the universe, there are infinitely many ways someone can interpret God that fits within our current understanding. And there's nothing that sets any of these apart as more accurate or valid than any other. Without evidence, any ideas about the nature of God are just opinions, and to suppose an opinion is actually some deep truth about reality is just silly. The laws of physics are just consistent patterns we observe in nature, there is no evidence to suggest that they have sentience of any kind. Is it possible? Sure, who knows? But as long as there's nothing setting apart your idea from any other, it's useless to posit it as true.

    God is a logic mistake - we assume that since we have the power to create intelligently that all we see about us must have also been created intelligently - taken us thousands of years to realise that that is in fact wrong. Ergo - god is very much created in mans image.

      There's an airport where all planes are filled with passengers waiting for it to take off but there have been delays... So all passengers are put into hibernation by the central computer. From time to time, they all wake up, start screaming because they're still where they were, their plane's take-off still delayed. And a nice voice on the intercom informs all that coffee and peanuts will be served while they are waiting for the plane to take off. Eventually, since no plane does take off, all passengers are put into hibernation again. Till the next time they wake up. I think he described Hell.

      Cave Rave God is no fellow, our ancestors made that mistake. God is the all natural big bang creator, evolver & ruler of the universe -- the integrated laws of nature and forces of physics. Yes God evolved the world then evolved man, the Darwinian way. This is the way that we fit into the world so perfectly natural evolution. If not for God there would be nothing instead of everything. • @noisenik
    @noisenik 10 лет назад

    hilarious, beautiful, tonally... well, what? O, and decidedly wrong about "early man" although not about a subsequent development called "theology". All the archaeological and anthropological evidence suggests the ideologies from which Adams retrojects his putative primordial questions are in fact belated developments. Hence my question about tone... there never was a "Cousin Ugg" and the world never seemed that way... even though we're descended, evolutionarily, from telephone sanitizers...

    • @noisenik
      @noisenik 10 лет назад

      Phelan I will try to explain what i meant: precisely the kind of evidence cited is what invalidates the axiomatic figure Adams conjures. Our distant forebears were not called "Cousin Ugg" and do not appear to have been prone to bouts of abrastractional quasi-philosophic speculation, in the mode of late 20th c. educated comedians. All the evidence we have suggests strongly that their thoughts were markedly different in tenor from our own, and although undoubtedly the source, almost as in a game of chinese whispers over the millenia, of ours are now opaque, indeed in point of origin lost, to us. Adams, to excellent comic effect, ellides cartoon "caveman" with the inherently ahistoric inclinations of modern philosophical theology, and thus, whilst as ever funny, is guilty of pretty crass cultural paleantology. In a sense one of the things we can be sure of is that it can't have been like that, rather as Wittgenstein politely asked what it would look like if the sun really did go round the earth....

    • @noisenik
      @noisenik 10 лет назад

      Phelan Further hints: he's talking about the wrong god, he simply assumes we start with God in monotheistic Creator mode, and that is wildly unlikely, that took a long old time to emerge.... What does seem clear-ish is that one does better to think about the development of an ontological heirarchy of perception, including dreams, hallucinations etc, chronometry, esp. cyclical lunar and sidereal phenomena, and above all sexual reproduction (without attempting any dispassionate scientificy therein)... What needs explaining is why our first clearly theo-centric depictions are of exaggeratedly pregnant women, and male "beast men" (therioanthropes, eg Minotaur) clasping them, and why in deep uninhabited caves, exploiting particular rock formations etc.... It's nerdy perhaps, but interesting....
